AGGGTM Series Review
Hey and welcome back to 'diaryofanoverthinker' ,as you all know the AGGGTM series finally came onto Netflix on the Thursday and me being an AGGGTM obsessed teenaged girl had to watch it and then come and yap about it on her online diary.I also need to yap about it here because I don't really think my friends and family I willing to hear me go on about this all weekend long. So my lovely online friends who choose to hear my yap sessions instead of having no choice but to, sit back ,relax and enjoy!
P.S this may contain book spoilers, so if you haven't read the book and intend on reading it or just watching the show read this after you've watched the show and if you've read the book but haven't watched the show its up to you because it won't spoil much but it will show most differences.
Things I really wanted to see but weren't there
ok so obviously when you watch a movie or series of your all time favourite book you have certain parts that you really, really, reallllyyy wanna see. Ever since I read the book I had things I wanted to see if a movie/series was made. None of which were in the actual series which quite literally broke my heart. No I'm not being dramatic and yes I'm aware that the fact that it broke my heart makes me sound incredibly nerdy. But rather a book made into a series than a boy, right? Anyways not the point.
The first thing I really wanted to see was when they reenacted how things would have gone if Sal did in fact kill Andie to see if the time would work out. I for some odd reason really wanted to see that because I had this whole cute thing made in my head and yeah. Also it would've been really cool I can't lie.
The second was when they made the murder board together. In the series Pip had one from the start but in the book her and Ravi made it together and she said she'd always wanted to make one. Now honestly this was one of my absolute favourite parts in the books. Also coming from someone who also always wanted to make one and made one for a school project(sadly it was not with a Ravi, I made it alone and it wasn't because I was solving a murder it was just a visual for an oral presentation on The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe.)I really wanted to see it but its fine I guess.
Now as much as I love the part where they broke into the Bells house the fact that Ravi didn't say "Real men wear floral when trespassing" was the saddest thing I've ever experienced because I LOVEE that line with all my heart.
THE RAVISHING LINE! This is unforgivable that whole last scene was like AHHHH and the joke and all that just showed his personality of jokes and it was so funny like the fact that it wasn't there is unacceptable. I am mad in case you could not tell.
Speaking of the ending, there were no fireworks when he found her after the whole Becca thing and he wasn't the one who tracked her phone. Also he lifted!? That was like no. The fireworks and him being all sad and tracking her made it so dramatic and vibey and intense. I really wanted to see that but no.
Max Hasting
Now I'm aware most of the plot of his bad guy, rapist personality is in the second and last book. However I don't think they spend enough time on that whole Becca plot and I don't know if we find out about Nat in the first book but I feel like they did and it was not mentioned in the show. Nat was barely mentioned and the fact that Max raped her too was important so I hate that it wasn't mentioned.
Sal and Andie
Ok obviously Sal and Andie are one of my multiple Roman Empires, like they could've been happy until everything was ruined! Honestly the last episode where they showed how happy they truly were was so sad but yet so perfect. I absolutely loved it and it honestly reminded me of how badly I want a novella on their POVs through the whole thing.
My overall opinion
Compare to the book it was GARBAGE (I'm biased to the topic) but at the same time not many series/movies based on books are well made and are much older. However if I look at it objectively it really wasn't that bad and if there was no book or I hadn't read the book I probably would've loved it. Also with all the side plots of being a teenager and the whole murder case it's really hard to do all the details justice especially over such a short period of time. Approximately 6 hours is decently not enough but considering how little it was it was pretty good. So despite my outburst on waisting 6 hours of my life may be a little dramatic but I had to get it our my system guys...
