Excursion 25

Excursion 25

Hey and welcome to 'diaryofanoverthinker' today I will be telling about one of the best excursions ever.Like honestly whoever said hiking for excursion was boring was so wrong(yes that was me.) so sit back, relax and enjoy my yap session once again!

The Hike

Okay, so in order for you to get the full experience, I have to start from the very beginning—the bus ride. On the way to B’sorah Trails (where our excursion was), we obviously had to sing and eat, because what else do you do on a two-hour bus ride with your class? The vibe was there, and we had so much fun—because let’s be real, the bus ride is always the best part.

Once we got there, we quickly changed out of our abayas and into our P.E. kits and started the hike. Honestly? It was kind of boring. All we were doing was walking in the heat and chatting with our friends—which, like, we already do during break. The most exciting part was that we could take off our scarves since we were alone out there.

The whole class was lowkey bored, just snacking and trying to create a vibe, but it really wasn’t giving. My friend and I were genuinely wondering how on earth the teachers thought this would be fun.

However, this is when things really started to pick up. As we reached the bottom of the trail, we found a small stream where we could swim and mess around—so naturally, the whole class jumped in. My friends and I were hesitant at first because if our clothes got wet, we’d have to wear them all the way back. And let’s be honest, hiking in wet socks did not sound appealing. But then we were like, YOLO. We knew we’d regret it if we didn’t go in.

That’s when the vibes really started. The teacher gave us our phones back, and suddenly it was a whole photoshoot—pictures, videos, singing, splashing around, full-on vibing. We were genuinely living our best lives. It kind of felt like that one song, "Young, Dumb & Broke" . It was honestly so out of character for me, but I’m so glad I let go and just enjoyed it.

After all the fun in the stream, we had to hike back up—and this is when things got wild, both in a good and bad way. As we were walking, it suddenly started to rain. And not just a light drizzle—I’m talking full-on downpour. Our clothes and hair, which had just dried, were now completely drenched. But honestly? It felt like something straight out of a book, and for me—as a reader—that was kind of magical.

We made do—partly because, you know, rain is when du'as are accepted, but mostly because we suddenly realized we had actually lost some people… and had no idea where they were.

After that little panic, we decided to keep moving. We were singing, making thikr, and full-on vibing in the rain—because honestly, what else could we do? The rain did make the hike a lot harder though. The path got super slippery, people were falling left and right, and at one point, we even got kind of lost. But somehow, we pushed through—mud on our clothes and everything.

This part of the excursion gave major “that’s so true” energy. Like, we were actually convinced we were going to die out there (yes, we were being dramatic, but still). It was chaotic, hilarious, and weirdly kind of iconic.

After hike vibes

Once we found everyone and the boys finished their hike too, we headed to another part of the place where we had a braai—and let me tell you, it was everything because we were starving. The vibes were back. We were talking, taking even more pictures, eating, and reading Salaah. It was actually so much fun.

This was the moment where we really got to relax, laugh, and reflect on everything that had happened. Like genuinely—what was that hike? And how did it end up being one of the best excursions we’ve ever had?

After Asr Salaah, we started the journey back home. But this bus ride had a completely different vibe. It was getting darker, and everyone was so tired. We closed the curtains and just sat in the darkness—some of us talking quietly to our friends, some of us knocked out sleeping.

We arrived back at school really late, but honestly? It felt so unreal. None of us wanted the day to end.

Overall

Overall, I don’t think I can ever truly put into words how amazing that day was. I mean, I was exhausted, I felt absolutely disgusting (like I desperately needed a shower), but it was all so worth it. We made so many memories—memories I know we’ll be laughing about for a long time.

I honestly feel even closer to my friends after everything we went through. We bonded, we vibed, we struggled through mud and rain together—and I’m just so, so happy I went.

Well that's all for todays blog and I hope you enjoyed it.

until next time
