Favourite Cuisines
Hey and welcome back to 'diaryofanoverthinker' today I shall be telling you about all my favourite cuisines, from other countries and my own. Some of them will also just be random and I thought it was worthy. While I'm telling you about these foods I'll also give small stories of when I tried some of them just to make it interesting. So sit back, relax and enjoy.
Biriyani and Coke
ok guys this is a joke to be honest but lets be for real it is the best combo on a Friday afternoon and you can't change my mind.(even though I have to boycott coke 😢)
alright jokes over lets actually get on with this blog.
Khunafa
Ok khunafa is my absolute favourite like ever since I first tasted it I've loved it, now in my opinion Al Aker Sweets in Qatar was the best Khunafa I have ever had. Honestly I remember finding it and when I ate it, it was amazing I had so many from there while I was in Qatar it was insane.
Now the first time I had Khunafa I was about 7 years old and we were in Dubai. So it was my first time in Dubai and we were leaving the Dubai Mall and it was quite late. Now towards the night time there's a bunch of these small stalls outside the Dubai Mall and my parents said I should try this thing they sold outside which was like cheese and syrup. I was a bit nervous but I loved cheese so I gave it a try and it was the best thing ever, I loved it so much and ever since then I've loved khunafa. In fact until last year when I tasted khunafa at Al Aker Sweets the one I had that night in Dubai was the best one.
Feteer Meshaltet
Ok now this is something I tried once when I was 7 yet again and have never been able to forget. The story behind this is my dad walking by a small restaurant near our hotel on my first trip to Dubai. He said that he saw them making something that had cheese and that we should go try it one day. So one night we did end up going there and it was busy and kinda a vibe if I think about it and I tried Feteer Meshaltet and ever since I've loved it. I spoke of it often and I always said I wanted to go back and have it again. Finally when we went this year I got to go back to that restaurant that I now know is called Zaroob and have the one food I fell in love with at the age of 7. Yes it was as good as I remembered and I tried many other things at this restaurant it now being my favourite place in Dubai .
Turkish Pide
ok so I haven't gotten to taste this in Turkey as yet but إن شاء الله I will later on this year. So I don't exactly remember the first time I tried this but I was quite young and I even remember doing a show and tell on it in grade 2. Honestly I've always loved Turkish food and I think going to a Turkish school for the first few years of my life is what influenced that but I'm definitely not complaining. One of my favourite Pides is the Spinach and Feta one and honestly I've ordered it at almost every Turkish restaurant I've been to which thanks to living in Joburg is a lot .
Butter Naan
right guys when I tell you this is my favourite thing to get at an Indian restaurant I am not lying. Now obviously I eat other India foods like I'm Indian but those bog butter naan with butter dripping of it at Indian restaurants won my heart at a young age. Like let me tell you I'm pretty sure I loved butter naan before I could even form words properly.
Pot Stickers
Ok now this is a food I love, Pot Stickers are honestly so good and when I tell you that the ones at PF Changs are the best just listen because they most definitely are. I only tried these.recently at JnS sushi(I think) but I still love the ones at PF Changs the most and so does my mum lol.
Cherry Juicee
now this is something my dad is kinda obsessed with but either way it's good, Its a cherry juice from turkey well Dark Cherry Juice but its absolutely delicious. I don't really like juice so the fact that I enjoyed this says a lot
Bolognese
Ok I know this is the most basic thing ever but this is my favourite pasta to ever exist and I love it sooooo much. Like out of every pasta if you tell me this is the one I'm having for dinner I'll actually be really happy all day just in anticipation for this.
Chai and Chapati
This has got to be the best restaurant to exist for precisely the 2 things in its name. My dad told me about it a few times when he went to London for work but then in Qatar when I tried it for myself I loved it. I mean I do get Chai and Chaptis at these pop up stall things on weekends from RSR but this just hit different.
