Hike Pt 2

Hike Pt 2

Hey and welcome to 'diaryofanoverthinker'. Today, I wanted to tell you about a hike I did last weekend — it was actually pretty fun (okay, maybe not as fun as the one we went on for excursion, but still worth sharing). I figured I should talk about it since it was my second hike of the year, which feels like a big deal considering I wasn’t really into hiking… until this year. Somewhere along the way, I rediscovered how surprisingly fun it can be.

A bit a background info

So basically, last week Saturday, my school decided to organize a hike for the high school girls as a small out-of-school event. We went with a few of our teachers and some Apas from the Fatimah Institute, which is an all-female Qur'anic institute. We’d done a joint event with them before, so this hike was meant to be a continuation of that — just something small, but with an Islamic aspect to it.

The Hike

The actual hike was okay — nothing too crazy. It was freezing when we first got there (I mean, it was 8 in the morning… in winter), but as the sun came out, it started to warm up and get a bit more bearable. Like I mentioned earlier, it wasn’t as fun as the hike we did during the excursion, but there were definitely some beautiful views along the way — and the waterfall? Absolutely worth it. Plus, being there with friends made everything so much better. I mean, let’s be real — almost anything is more fun when you’re with your people.

After hike activities

After the hike, we headed to the picnic spot — this was where we were going to have a short talk with the Fatimah Institute and a little bring-and-share (because, let’s be honest, food always makes everything better).

The picnic spot was about 1.5 km away, and since most people were tired, we were allowed to take turns riding in some of the teachers' cars. But my friends and I decided to walk — and honestly, that turned out to be a great decision. It ended up being such a fun walk — just the four of us chatting, laughing, and of course, making TikToks that no one will ever see.

Once we got to the picnic area, we all placed our snacks and food in the middle, sat in a circle, and dug in. We’d definitely worked up an appetite — and even if we hadn’t, let’s be real: we’re all bigbacks and love a good snack moment.

After eating, the girls from Fatimah Institute gave a short talk, and we did a few activities together. It wasn’t bad at all, but let’s be honest — most of us were just messing around and having fun, because at the end of the day, we’re just a bunch of teenagers hanging out with our friends.

As the day wound down, people slowly started heading home, and those of us who stayed behind just chilled and kept messing around — because, really, what else would you expect?

All in all, it was actually kinda fun, and I got to spend time with my friends — so that’s obviously a win. I’m really glad I went. Even if it wasn’t the most exciting thing in the world, it turned out to be a really nice day and a good memory.

Well, that’s all for today’s blog — I hope you enjoyed reading it

Until next time
