My favourite scientist

My favourite scientist

Heyyy and welcome back to diaryofanoverthinker. Before I start I just wanted to say I’m sorry for not posting last week I was in holiday and didn’t get a chance to write but I’m back now. Todays blog is going to be about one of my favourite scientists Dmitri Mendeleev. Now while I’m talking about science I won’t be able to blow your mind like my science teacher but I will try. So sit back relax and enjoy !

Who is Dmitri Mendeleev

First let’s start with who is Dmitri Mendeleev. Dmitri Mendeleev was a Russian Chemist and he arranged the periodic table. Now you must be thinking why does that make him so special I mean anyone can group stuff and put it on a table. You’re right but also wrong its more the way he did it and what he did after. Mendeleev found that, when all the known chemical elements were arranged in order of increasing atomic weight, the resulting table displayed a recurring pattern, or periodicity, of properties. Once this was done there were still blanks in the periodic table just by where the blanks where in the table Mendeleev was able to say what properties the element in the blanks would have and when those elements where discovered it proved he was right. Now he didn’t get a Nobel Prize but there is an element named after him and I guess that’s better than any Nobel Prize. Down below There's a few pictures of the first perodic tables along with the element named after Mendeleev.

Why is he my favourite?

Now that you know who he is lets get to why he is my favourite scientist. Now one may think ok he was a genius but there’s so many other scientists to pick from so why him? Well everyone’s favourite scientist is either Einstein or Stephen Hawking ,Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton etc but no one ever says anything about Mendeleev. While the other scientist are equally as important and all had their own significant discoveries and are mentioned in many shows about science like big bang theory but without Mendeleev we wouldn’t have the periodic table which gives you not only the element but its atomic weight and is put into a patten using this information. So even though he didn’t get a Nobel Prize he is still an amazing scientist and has contributed a lot the the world of science but is hardly mentioned. So in conclusion you could say I like him because he is under appreciated and was truly brilliant

Well that’s all for today I hope you enjoyed learning about my favourite scientist and that you too see why he is truly one of the best yet under appreciated scientist to live. Until next time
