My trip pt 1
Hey and welcome to 'diaryofanoverthinker'. For today’s blog, I’ll be attempting the impossible, trying to explain my holiday without spiralling into a thousand side stories. This post was going to be way too long if I did it in one part so I'm making 2 parts because as much as I want to do it all now the second half just wouldn't be as good because I'd be tired.
So seriously, grab a snack, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride… because you’re going to be here for a while.
Amman-Jordan
I’m starting off with Amman, which was the first stop of the holiday. Now, honestly, I didn’t really know what to expect but definitely not this. That place was such a vibe, like omggg.
We stayed in Abdali, which is mainly a Muslim area, and it was honestly so much fun. Our hotel was at Abdali Boulevard, right next to a bunch of small cafés and coffee shops. Everything was so close there was even a mall within walking distance, which was a lifesaver after long days when all you wanted was a quick snack or something to eat.

Places to go/Thing to do
Citadel-The Citadel had so many cool architectural elements from the Roman, Byzantine, and Umayyad periods. There were things like the Temple of Hercules, the Umayyad Palace, and so much more. On top of that, it has an amazing view over the city.
Honestly, it was a really cool place, and you can get some incredible pictures up there. I’d say it’s worth spending at least 1–2 hours there, depending on how into history and architecture you are.

Rainbow Street- Now, this is honestly just one of many streets where you’ll find shops, little markets, and people simply walking around, enjoying their day, and buying things and it’s such a nice thing to experience.
I’m highlighting Rainbow Street specifically because it had the most amazing view of the city. We went closer to Asr time, and hearing all the adhans go off at once was just… something else. The sound of all those adhans combined with the city view was genuinely one of the most beautiful moments of the trip.

Side quests- Honestly, for the rest of our time in Amman, we were just exploring—wandering through random streets, popping into malls, and basically doing side quests, because let’s be real, that’s the best part of any holiday.
Amman is such an amazing city, and I genuinely loved being there.
Food
Oud- Oud was a restaurant close to our hotel that served Middle Eastern cuisine with their own twist on some dishes. Honestly, it was so good. We ordered a bunch of different things to share, but everything was so filling and delicious that I was completely full by the end.
BLK- This was also a coffee shop right next to our hotel. It was a small café kind of like a Juju’s or Starbucks vibe but with its own menu, obviously. It was really good and honestly perfect for a quick breakfast or a late-night snack.
Since we were staying so close to the mall, we ended up eating there a lot mostly in the food court. We tried to stick to local takeaway places though, ordering things like shawarmas, rice bowls, and similar dishes
Overall Amman was an amazing city and I am so glad I got to go there and experience a new place.
Petra
Petra was just a day trip, but it was an amazing one. The drive there was long, but honestly, it was so worth it. We even stopped at a place called Petra Complex along the way to grab some food and souvenirs.
At first, I wasn’t really feeling it, but as we went on, I slowly got more into it and wow, it was absolutely breathtaking. It’s honestly incredible how beautiful nature can be, and it felt like such a lovely reminder of that. The carvings only added to the experience. While nothing beats the natural beauty, it was still so impressive seeing how high people climbed in the past and how they managed to carve such intricate details into the stone on their own without the use of the technology we have now.
It honestly felt like it went on for hours. You could easily spend the whole day exploring, climbing, and seeing so many different and unique stones and carvings. I was genuinely having the time of my life with all the climbing, and it ended up being one of my favourite days in Jordan.

After all that exploring, we needed food. Even though we had snacks and I had my trusty Jungle Oats bar (I’m obsessed)I was starving. So we made our way to a place called Qantrah, which had a buffet, and honestly… it was so good.

Okay, so that’s all for today. I really hope you enjoyed reading this, and I’m looking forward to continuing it next week because Jerusalem honestly deserves a blog of its own, so prepare to hear all about that incredible journey.
I wish everyone the best of luck with the start of school on the 14th. I genuinely hope you all have an amazing school year and that all your teachers are the nice ones.
Until next time
