My Trip Pt 2

My Trip Pt 2

Hey and welcome to 'diaryofanoverthinker'. Today, I’ll be telling you about the second half of my trip and if you thought the first half was amazing and chaotic, you have no idea what you’re about to read. So sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Jerusalem

Okay, I honestly don’t even know how to start this because this was one of the most chaotic and most beautiful trips I have ever taken. And when I say chaotic, I mean absolutely insane chaos the kind that would have annoyed me on any other day.

So, let’s start at the beginning, I guess.

We had to wake up quite early at our hotel in Jordan to get ready and leave for the hour-long drive to the border. It felt even earlier than it actually was because it was still so dark, winter does that, with the sun rising later and all.

Once we got to the border, it was a tad bit confusing, but everything went smoothly, and before we knew it, we were on a bus and eventually had arrived. Sure, there was a bit more confusion because, obviously, there was another border, but overall it was fine, and we were finally able to meet up with the tour guide and driver.

Now, it was honestly freezing and that is not an overstatement at all. It was also drizzling at this point, so yeah, the weather was pretty crappy. But everything was still going well… so far.

Our first stop was Bethlehem, where Isa (A.S) / Jesus was born. And while it was cold outside, it was really warm inside. Honestly, the architecture in places like this will forever impress me especially because everything was so massive. There were even steps that took you to this underground kinda place, which was really cool. Overall, it was just really, really amazing

After that, we went to our hotel just to check in and freshen up because our next stop was the Old City, and that was going to take up the rest of the day. We stayed at the St. George Hotel, and honestly, it was a nice place. The shower was a bit of a mess, but other than that, it was a good hotel.

After that, we made our way to the Old City and it was pouring. Like, full-on rain. Even though we had raincoats and umbrellas, we were still worried it would be harder to actually enjoy everything in that weather.

And, as expected, it was harder to enjoy. Our shoes were completely soaked through, but we soldiered on. Despite the rain, it was still an amazing experience. There’s just so much history there, and personally, I find it incredible how so many religions coexist in one massive area because of all the shared religious history and meaning.

It’s also just insane how huge it is. Honestly, it was massive, and there’s history everywhere you go. It’s truly breathtaking like I genuinely don’t have the words to explain how surreal it felt.

Then there’s the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa, which were, again, absolutely breathtaking and unreal. I never expected that I would actually be there, and that alone was amazing. The weather meant it was quieter than usual, which made it feel even more perfect. I can’t really explain how nice it was to spend time there warming up, praying, and just being in that masjid. It was such a peaceful, grounding moment.

The rest of the trip was honestly just getting something to eat, heading back to the hotel, and trying to rest up.

The next day, we went back to the Old Town for a bit, just to enjoy it one last time ,this time in better weather before we had to leave. And then, just like that, we were back in Jordan.

It was such an amazing trip, and I’m so grateful that I got to go and experience it all, rain and everything.

Dubai

Okay, now for the more light-hearted part of the holiday.

We went to Dubai for about a week, and it was honestly the perfect way to end the trip. Dubai, while fun, was pretty much the same as usual in the best way possible. Late nights, amazing food, fountain and light shows, random side quests, Global Village, and spotting cool cars at the most random times. It was so much fun. Sure, it was exhausting, but in that fun, satisfying way that made it the perfect ending to our holiday.

We went to Global Village and tried so many of the amazing things we’d seen on TikTok, and of course, we bought a few things too. My personal favourite, since the last time we went was Bosnia House and those blackcurrant juices you can get at some of the pavilions.

We also watched some late-night fountain shows and got to see the light shows for the seven-day New Year’s celebration. And yes, it was completely unnecessary but it was fun, it was cool, and honestly… YOLO, so why not?

We did a day tour of all seven Emirates as well. It was a long day, a bit random, and pretty tiring, but it was still fun. This whole holiday was full of random trips, and that’s honestly what made it so special. It was quieter and slower, but we got to explore new places, and overall it was a really nice day.

One of the days, we went to Kite Beach, which was the perfect and very much needed day of relaxation. A beach day is always a win and we got to eat SALT, which is always a win in my eyes.

All in all, it was a random but perfect ending to an amazing holiday—and the perfect start to 2026.

So yeah that's the end of my holiday and sadly I'm now facing the realities of gr 10.I hope everyone had a good first week back at school and I hope you enjoyed todays blog.

Until next time
