Ramadan Goals
Hi or should I say السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ . welcome back to 'diaryofanoverthinker'. As we know the lovely month of Ramadan has started. Another thing we all know is that this is the month to start new habits and the fact that it's Ramadan makes it a lot easier, the only thing you need to do is maintain them after Ramadan. So sit back relax and enjoy.
Reading Qur'an
So obviously I read Qur'an and memorise Surahs out of Ramadan but making a Khatam in Ramadan is just a new level of reading Qur'an and somehow feels easier to read compare to out of Ramadan. So obviously I want to make a Khatam and I want to finish memorising Surah Mulk since I already know half a page.
Abayas
ok so obviously every muslim girl loves wearing Abayas because they're just soo pretty. Since it's Ramadan I'm going to try and wear an Abaya whenever I go out which isn't that hard because I do this often out of Ramadan too. Before I wore Hijab full time I used to wear it all Ramadan and eventually it turned into a full-time thing and I hope the same happens with this new ritual and a lot sooner then it did with hijab.
Taraweeh
so obviously I read taraweeh but like I get lazy and I don't read all my rakaats because you can read 8,12 or 20 but this year I'm reading all. I've been doing well with this though because reading I've also been trying to concentrate in my salad more and Taraweeh is so fun(mainly when you read it with your mum and if u have sister I don't but it sounds fun)
Not over eating
one thing muslims do a lot is overeat at Sehri and Iftaar which honestly I don't often do but I can go over board. Now I'm not to sure about other countries but I know South Africans(in Joburg) bring a bunch of random Turkish food and make it a Ramadan thing and since I love Turkish food and I can get a lot of these breads and dips in Ramadan we get over excited by a lot and then feel pressured to finish it. So even though there's so many yummy Ramadan foods I want to try not to over do it and just eat normally.
Strengthening my Imaan
Obviously Ramadan is the easiest month to do that in like I really want to become closer to Allah by reading more Qur'an, Thikr ,giving in charity ,make more Duaa ,pay attention in my Sallah and overall just get closer to Allah. Ramadan being the month of mercy and fasting is the easiest time to do this because then after Ramadan all I need to do is follow through which may be slightly harder but it will all be worth it إن شاء الله
Tafseer
One thing I really want to do is understand the Qur'an . My mum and I have started a little Tafseer class of our own after Taraweeh with the basic short Surahs but after that I do want to properly lear the whole Qur'an in depth إن شاء الله
I also try to remember the meanings of what we learned while in Sallah so I can understand what I'm saying to Allah and overall just concentrate even more in Sallah(which I have mentioned but it's a big deal guys) so honestly Tafseer is a life long goal
Well that's all for today honestly this was just a summary but you get the just of what I'm trying to do this Ramadan. I'll be trying to post more Islamic content so you can look forward to that. I hope you enjoyed today's blog and that you're having an amazing Ramadan so far. As always if you have any questions or suggestions feel free to contact me at adiaryofanoverthinker@gmail.com
until next time
