Random Book talk pt.3
Hi and welcome back to 'diaryofanoverthinker' today I'll be posting another book post part of my mini series from the beginning of the year. Today I'll be focusing on one of the most underrated books that honestly I'm in love with,As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow. So sit back relax and enjoy!
Intro
Ok Let's start of with what the book is. As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow is about a girl Salama Kassab who lives in Syria during the revolution/war and she meets the boy she was supposed to marry, Kenan Aljendi in the hospital where she works. Slowly with they're resilience do they find peace and get the happy ever after they deserve. It's a story about hope, war, resilenece and so much more.
Characters
Salama Kassab- Salama is an empathetic, shy and smart young girl who dreamed of becoming a pharmacists and writer before the war which lead her to working in a hospital. She lives with her best friend/sister-in-law in Homs while fighting her hallucinations wondering if she should leave her home for a better life.
Kenan Aljendi- A kind hearted 19 year boy with a YouTube channel hoping it will save their country, with dreams of becoming an animator. Kenan lives with his younger brother and sister trying to keep them safe now that their parents can't. Kenan doesn't want to leave but eventually he will.
Other characters: they're so many amazing characters in the story such as Salama's bsf or Kenan's younger siblings Lama and Yusuf and not to mention the amazing yet annoying hallucinated Khawf who while infuriated me added so much to the book. Every character played an amazing role and I'm glad they were in it.
Little Review.
This book is amazing and I haven't met someone who didn't enjoy it. Honestly I'm so excited for her new book and I can't wait to read/enjoy just the same.
This book was the perfect balance of sad, happy, exciting and so many more emotions that it kept you hooked right till the end and left you feeling empty once it was done. It's a perfect story of hardship with just the right amount of Islamic Romance that you don't get in books. It truly shows how life can change in the blink of the eye for better or worse and that hope can be found even in the darkest of times. It's a book that any teenage girl, muslim or not should read.
Well that's all for today I hope you enjoyed this blog and that you will read As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow. As always feel free to contact me at adiaryofanoverthinker@gmail.com
