Random book talk pt 4
Hey and welcome back to 'diaryofanovethinker' today I'll be continuing a series that I haven't added to in awhile. So as you know in this series I tend to yap about one book in particular and speculate theories and thoughts on it. I so far have had one with lots of random information on my favourite books or characters that ended up being an AGGGTM themed, one on characters I think need their own books and one on my all time favourite novel as long as the lemon trees go. Today however I will be focusing on one of my favourite books series that is highly underrated and never talked about The Naturals. So sit back relax and enjoy!
Intro
The Naturals is a captivating four-book series, accompanied by a novella, centered around Cassie Hobbs, a teenage girl with a remarkable gift for profiling. She joins a specialized program where other teens with similar abilities assist the FBI. As they tackle active cases, they often find themselves entangled in elements of their own pasts, despite being instructed to focus on closed cases. Alongside the thrilling investigations, the series also explores the complexities of teenage drama as they navigate life together.
Characters
Cassie Hobbs-Cassie, one of the main characters, is a strong teenager who has endured tremendous loss, particularly the murder of her mother. Now living with her large family, she strives for independence but carries the weight of her past. Everything changes when she joins the Naturals program, where she finally begins to uncover the answers she's wanted her whole life. However, she quickly realizes that the program brings not only the truth but also new challenges she never wanted.
Dean Redding- Dean is the first to join the Naturals program at a young age, motivated by the need to assist the FBI after his father was convicted of murder. As a natural profiler, he often keeps people at arm’s length, pushing most away. Despite his tough demeanor, Dean is the most responsible member of the group and secretly considers them all like family, even if he struggles to express it.
Michael Townsend- Michael, the group's emotional reader, is the playful "golden retriever" of the team, always seeking distractions and often diving into danger headfirst. While he excels at reading the emotions of others, he has become adept at hiding his own feelings, a skill developed in response to his father's abuse. His lighthearted demeanor masks a deeper struggle, adding complexity to his character and his relationships within the group.
Sloan Travish- Sloan is a walking, talking encyclopedia with an infectious energy, especially when caffeinated. Though she often appears to be the upbeat and hopeful one, which can sometimes annoy her teammates, she is incredibly sensitive due to her own past. Having always felt inadequate for being different, she struggles with the pain of her father leaving her and her mother because they were a secret. Throughout the series, Sloan faces numerous challenges that reveal the depth of her struggles beneath her vibrant exterior.
Lia Zhang-Lia being the huaman lie detector due to her past which she takes longer to reveal than the others tends to seem like she doesn't care but that's only because while being able to detect lies she is an amazing liar. The only one who knows her in depth is Dean who is like her brother since they both joined the program so early on.While she too seems not to care she cares tremendously about the group and would do anything for everyone of them despite what she says.
My thoughts on the books
If im being honest the only reason I read this books is because I love Jennifer Lynn Barnes but I soon became obsessed. This book is so amazing and the plot twist and how they link up to each of the main characters is truly amazing. It also truly amazing because you think you have it all figured out until she uncover the truth in the last few chapters and leaves you staring at the wall.Which is also why I'm genuinely so sad that it's so underrated.
Well that's all for today blog I hope you enjoyed it and if you haven't read the naturals I hope this convinced you. Also feel free to contact me at adiaryofanoverthinker@gmail.com and let me know if you're team Michael or Dean.
Until next time
