Debrief of 2024

hey and welcome back to 'diaryofanoverthinker' and today I shall be doing a debrief f 2024 because this year has been insane. Now I know it's a bit early for this but I have a lot of end of year blogs to do so I'm starting early. Today will surly be all the work known drama that happened this year. So sit back, relax and enjoy

Gaza vs Israeli

ok this has to be first because it is really important and like no one talks about it anymore or at least not as much as at first. Like genuinely this is a big deal and this genocide needs to end. I'm not going to delve too deep into it because this blog is supposed to be chilled but it seriously needs to stop and Gaza needs to be freed

ALL the TikTok Drama

Okay, I’m not gonna dive into every bit of TikTok drama, but omg, there’s been so much! Let’s start with the whole Gibs, Haven, Jesse, and their crew – that beef was insane. I mean, that wasn’t the only drama but damn it was a lot. We also had breakups, exes collaborating (yes I'm talking about Pipers). The Sturniolos alone were a whole vibe, and their constant changes were a huge part of the chaos. But honestly, the Gibs and his ex situation? That plot twist? For real.

And speaking of breakups, can we talk about El and Owen? Like, they broke up, then got back together, and the whole thing was just so confusing. And they definitely weren’t the only ones playing that back-and-forth game. TikTok relationships were definitely their own kind of drama.

On a more wholesome note, let’s not forget all the weddings, engagements, and babies. It was like we were all invested in seeing their relationships unfold, and every big life milestone felt like something we got to witness firsthand.

Now, I have to mention the Sturniolo intro. The fact that it’s no longer a thing? Devastating. That intro was iconic, and I swear, I almost cried when they stopped using it. I get why they did, but still it was heartbreaking

Oh and how can I forget the sis vs bro come back along with the slime comeback. Like that stuff was my childhood and I was so happy to see it come back like the slime alone was omg but then you brought our childhood creators and I was like YAYYY!

And then there were all the trends – the nostalgia is already hitting so hard. The fact that we had the same dance for so many different trends was wild. And who could forget the leopard print, DTI, crumble cookie, Arua points, the Nonchalant dread heads, and the Dubai viral chocolates? The list goes on, but those trends really made a mark. TikTok will never be the same.

The P-Diddy drama

That hit hard and totally took everyone by surprise. Like, there was already so much going on, and then we find out about those Diddy parties and all the songs that could be hinting at something. Honestly, the whole P-Diddy drama came out of nowhere and somehow took over my FYP for like a whole week before it moved on to the next big thing of 2024.

The Menendez Brothers

This had such a huge impact on our generation, and it really blew up this year – between the TikToks, the Monsters series, the Netflix documentary, and not to mention the court hearing they had on Tuesday. I mean, this is still ongoing, and they could be released before the end of the year, which is huge. I’m honestly so glad this has become such a big deal, especially considering how long ago the murders happened. It’s wild to think they might actually be released and I really hope they do.

Bookish Information

So 2024 had a lot of book related bombshells too.I mean Holly Jackson realising The Reappearance of Rachel Price and mentioning yet another new book that she's writing.Along with her booktok hit AGGGTM being turned into a Netflix series that I have written about before. I mean that was a lot of stuff happening for one of my favourite authors and I definitely loved it.

Then we had Powerful and Reckless being released and the plot twist Lauren Roberts has will forever have me undone(yes I just did that,ifykyk). I mean as if that wasn't enough she also mentioned that the Powerless Trilogy will be turned into a series which was amazing news for all Kai lovers. Then onto of all her awesomeness we have the prerelease quotes of Fearless that was omggg. I cannot wait for her 2025 book because I love her.and hate her so much.

Obviously we cannot forget the Wes and Liz come back in Nothing Like the Movies that was amazing but also why just why. Like I loved Liz's new vibe and the plot and Wes's plan and Wes's POV was all amazing don't get me wrong like the plot was plotting but I wanted one where the actually liked each other the whole book.

Lets not forget the news we all got of a new shatter me series about JAMES! I actually cannot wait until 2025 for it.

But, as much as there were exciting releases, 2024 also brought some serious drama for book lovers. The book ban news hit hard – Shatter Me, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harry Potter, and more being banned? It’s crazy, especially since Shatter Me literally talks about book bans. And honestly, banning To Kill a Mockingbird? It's a classic. And Harry Potter is basically everyone’s childhood. It just doesn’t make sense.

So, yeah, 2024 was definitely a year for book lovers – in both good and bad ways.

Benjamin Wadsworth in Genral

Ok this part here is for all my Harry Potter fanciest girlies, specifically my Mattheo Riddle girlies. It began with Benjamin finding out about Mattheo, which lead to panic because he was finding out how obsessed some of us are. However it also lead to happiness because he started posting again and he watched the whole Harry Potter series. Then he went to war with us about the name Mattheo and how it should be changed and well no one agreed with him.He finally let go of it but he was still posting and that was enough for us all.

Then we got amazing news ...Ben and Stella got divorced and yeah its sad and poor Jezebel but everyone on TikTok was excited because we entered the "I have a chance with him" phase. Like no joke my TikTok was filled with people being happy about it because they thought they could shoot their shot now. Until he dropped the news of having a girlfriend Cait Pool. So Ben has actually put Mattheo girlies through a lot this year.

All the new movies/shows

Genuinely the amount of new shows and movies we got this year. I mean we got Inside Out 2, Bad Boys 4, OBX 4, Cobra Kai 6, The Rookie on Netflix, The Monsters Series,AGGGTM series, Maxton hall etc. Like it was endless not that I'm complaining but still.

I am however now obsessed with Maxton Hall and need season 2 right now because well it was actually one of the better wattled/book adaptations made.

Chase Atlantic

Ok I just have to talk about Lost in Heaven real quick because I swear I was obsessed with that album before it.was even released all because Ricochet was all over my fyp.Like Chase Atlantic has always been amazing but Lost in Heaven is just omg.So yeah I just had to mention that.
