Stranger Things 5
Hey and welcome to 'diaryofaniverthinker'. Now, I know today isn’t a Saturday, but because I took a massive break back in November/December and have SOOOOmuch to say, I’m writing two blogs this week, one today and one tomorrow as normal.
I also know that the perfect time to write about Stranger Things 5 was technically last week, but last week’s blog was pre-written while I was away, so I’m diving into it today instead. So sit back, relax, and enjoy!
(p.s there WILL be spoilers)
Will
Okay, I’m sorry, but I have to start with Will because like OMGGG, his character was lowkey cooking this season.
I’m gonna be honest: since about season 3, I kind of found Will annoying and just… yeah. But this season, especially Volume 1, he was straight-up aura farming, and I was so here for it.
The last episode of Volume 1 had me shocked for days like, seriously, it was all I could think about. It was as if Will suddenly remembered he was the main character and just took over, and I was loving every second of it.
I mean, he literally killed all those demodogs with his mind and like he's a SORCERER?? Yeah, Will was absolutely cooking this season, and I LOVED it.
Okay, him coming out when the world was basically ending was a bit too “main-character-y” — like OoOoOo how can I make this about me? (very much giving those memes about Harry Potter making everything about himself).
But honestly? Other than that, Will was amazing this season. And not to mention… the bowl cut didn’t even look that bad this time.

Little edit of Will Aura Farming bc why not
Steve and Dustin
Okay, but Steve and Dustin’s friendship this season went through it, and I hated and loved it all at once.
Before they had their little heart-to-heart, Steve was acting like such a mother, and I loved it because honestly, who doesn’t love Steve being the mum of the group?
And Dustin… while he was really pissing me off at times with his whole everything, I also felt so bad for him because he was clearly grieving Eddie. A part of me really loved how he stayed so true to Eddie, and honestly, it was just a lot emotionally.
I did absolutely love when they finally fought and talked it out though like seriously, that scene was so good and SO needed after all the tension and arguing they had that season.
And the graduation scene?? Steve acting like a proud dad for Dustin I loved it because well Steve is the parent.
Karen
UYS, KAREN WHEELER IS NOT USELESS!!
Ted is 100% the problem because wow Karen was absolutely cooking this season too. I mean, sure, she didn’t believe Holly at first, but once she did, she really stepped up and fought back, and I was literally cheering her on.
And then she blew up the demo like she BLEW. IT. UP. while she was half dead?? DAMNNN.
Honestly, Ted was holding her back, because wow… Karen Wheeler really proved herself this season.
Max
WHY CAN’T SHE RUN??
Like seriously, Max really needs to learn how to run instead of having a whole yap session, or just standing there staring and touching her hand. Girl, if you actually want to escape… RUNNN. I was being genuinely rage-baited.
And also how did she graduate?? The others, fine, I get it. But Max?? HOW did she graduate, gang??? HOWWW??
Honestly, I used to love Max, but she was kinda annoying me this season.
THE ENDING
Okay, I have really mixed emotions about the ending.
I loved the switch over to Holly and her friends in the basement after they all left that moment just felt so wholesome and honestly really sweet.
But Mike’s whole theory about El being alive and hiding somewhere… I’m not sure how I feel about it. It just feels so uncertain. I know there’s that theory about Mike and El being neighbours in Scotland, and that the Duffer Brothers ended it that way so fans could choose to be either optimistic or pessimistic but I don’t know, it just didn’t fully sit right with me.
That said, I did really love the stories he made for the rest of them, and like I mentioned, the switch back to Holly and her friends at the end was such a nice touch.
Henry
Okay, why were we all so surprised that Henry wasn’t always evil and that he was kind of like Will? I genuinely thought we’d all figured that out back in season 4??
But also why was Henry so much nicer to Holly and the other kids than he ever was to Will? Will literally suffered in the Upside Down, while these kids were just chilling and living their best lives inside Henry’s mind. The contrast was wild.
And honestly, Vecna’s death was lowkey such a good scene. Everyone having their flashbacks, him looking so weak and human for once it was actually really powerful, and I loved it.
Holly
Okay, now all I can think about when I think of Holly Wheeler is Lizzie Young, and I know I’m not the only one. I’ve seen so many videos pointing out the parallels between Lizzie and Holly, and I genuinely can’t unsee it.
Everyone kept telling Holly that monsters aren’t real and that Mr Whatsit was just in her head, even when she knew he wasn’t no one believed her. And that’s exactly like Lizzie with the scary lady… or the “monster.”

Not to mention when Holly was begging Derek to tell the other kids the truth about Henry and he didn’t that was literally the same as when Lizzie begged Gibs to tell the others about Mark, and he didn’t.

I don’t know, Lizzie and Holly are just so similar, and it’s actually killing me especially because anyone who follows my blog knows Lizzie has been my Roman Empire since her book came out.
And honestly, even putting the Lizzie comparisons aside, Holly’s character is actually so damn good. She’s someone I really wish we’d had sooner.
(p.s there is a boys of Tommen blog coming soon because ALOT has happened with that fandom and I need ti yap about it)
Honestly, there’s so much more to say like the spin-off series, the confirmatory theory, and how Nancy and Jonathan were just straight-up rage bait this season. But those topics honestly deserve blogs of their own.
I will make a part 2 eventually, I promise. These are just my main thoughts for now.
And yeah… Stranger Things 5 was peak, and I genuinely can’t believe it’s over.
I hope you enjoyed todays blog and look forward to tomorrows blog.
Until next time
