Term 3 Review
hey and welcome back to 'diaryofanoverthinker' todayyy I shall be taking a break from dark and gloomy killers to write about my thoughts on term 3. This will involve tests, projects, studying, activities, marks and my overall opinion. I also hope everyone had a good term 3 and that you were happy with your reportsss but anyways sit back ,relax and enjoy
Projects
ok this was my least favourite part of insure my marks did improve with projects but it was quite annoying because I prefer studying and writing over actually sitting there, taking my time to build or research something. The research projects weren't so bad they just took awhile since you had to find answers to the questions and make PowerPoints or a visual but overall they were better. The building projects on the other hand were really annoying, firstly they always sound way to complicated and take up a whole day, secondly I always have to go find scrap cardboard which takes awhile sometimes and lastly I cannot build to save my life. So the building usually takes assistance and a whole Sunday but you know I eventually get it and the mark.
Overall I have a hate love relationship with projects because I love the marks I get with them but I hate to build and I much rather study a little harder and get the same marks.
Studying/tests
Ok the studying wasn't that bad since it was mainly Islamic subjects and then History, Math, English literature and Afrikaans literature . So I'm going to break it down and explain each one.
Islamic subjects: Ok these were easy to study for some were slightly hard and confusing and the tests had me stressed that I was going to fail on some subjects like tafseer but overall it was good and all my marks were fine so it doesn't really matter.
History: ok History is another story, anyone who knows me knows that I cannot study for history to save my life. Like I study I know basic information and in the paper I could answer questions but I suck at writing essays because I cannot remember all the detail. English essays I'm good with but History ones are another story. Thankfully in most of my History papers I do get sources to refer to so it makes it slightly easier.
Math: Ok math is a whole other story this term because what even is algebraic expressions and algebraic equations. I studied for a whole week for this paper and they were even tears involved like when I tell you I genuinely couldn't grasp the concept I'm not even lying. Also what is geometry because that stuffs also really confusing. After all that I more or less started to get it and while my mark was not the best my project boosted it but sill I really need to work on it for next term.
English and Afrikaans Literature: This really wasn't bad, both of them. I was really stressed because I remember not doing well for my Lit exam last year but somehow I got good marks in both. I just went over the stories, plays and poems done in class then went over the questions and answers and the ones in the paper were somewhat similar which lead me to do well and I was really proud of that
Activities
once the term was mostly over my school hosted a few fun activities and I'll be.discussing each of them here
The arithmetics race :
The arithmetics race is a F1 themed math game,so everyone was in F1 named teams, sadly the boys got all the good teams and that was very much intentional sooo we were all quite upset about that. The actual race was ok I mean the math problems were quite difficult and all the boys won so that was sad. It also only lasted 2 hours which meant it was just a free day. So it was fun bu the other activities were way better
Sports day:
This was my favourite one. At first I was sceptical because A. I haven't had a sports day since covid which was when I was in grade 4 and B. I was in yellow which is the worst colour. However on the day I ended up having so much of fun. Firstly it was an only girls thing because the boys had braai master on the other side of the school, so my hair was perfect and I had glitter and all on my face. Genuinely getting ready as a class, no matter our colours was so fun.
Then the actual day was also fun because we ran races, ate tuck shop food, met each other parents, laughed, took pictures, raced and scram our lungs out. I mean I came home with a sore throat because I had no idea I could scream like that.
I actually loved it so much.
Braai master
ok this is also a really fun activity we have. So braai master is a braai contest where we're sorted into teams, told what to make, we only get the basics and we have to bring everything else and come up with a theme and team name. This is always a fun experience and even tho I can't have a smash burger again in awhile I had a lot of fun. I mean make a patty was a new experience but it was so much of fun.
My team had an Arab theme and I feel like making our presentation and the decorations was so much of fun and I can't wait to do it again next year.
Marks
Ok this was the nerve recking part, but I'm so glad with the turn out I actually did so well and my marks did in fact improve so I can only hope for a spot in top ten now. I'm honestly really proud of myself and the fact that I'm improving is the important part.
Anyways that was all my thoughts on term 3 I hope you enjoyed it and I hope your term 3 was even better. My next week's blog will be moved to Sunday as I'm going to be away but I will write all about my trip on Sunday. As always feel free to contact me at adiaryofanoverthinker@gmail.com.
