The Summer I Turned Pretty

Hey and welcome to 'diaryofanoverthinker' today I will be telling you all my thoughts on 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' so far because even though this weeks episode was soo bad the episodes before that have been so good and I need to get out my thoughts on them. Also this is going to contain spoilers so if you haven't watched all the episodes yet then please don't read this.
Why is everyone(including Belly) being so mean to Conrad
Okay, so in like the past two episodes, why has everyone been so damn mean to Conrad? Like, I get it — his timing to admit he still loves Belly was not the best, like at all, but come on. We could all see it from miles away, and let’s be real — we knew that wedding was never going to happen.
I mean, I sort of understand why everyone else is mad at him or lashing out, but Belly? She has absolutely no right. When it was just her and Conrad alone in Cousins, you could clearly see she still loved him — and she was totally fine with it then. So now she suddenly wants to act all cold and like blame him for everything like Belly please we all know you're relieved that he ruined the wedding.
The beach scene
Okay, so like the beach scene where Conrad says he still loves her was basically another “I thought you knew” moment — like, it all felt so damn similar. That entire scene was actually low-key prime. The tension, the emotions, the way he just puts it all out there because he finally found out Jere cheated
And when he asked her ho even are you anymore? and like mentions her wedding at the country club— that was such a Jess and Rory vibe, like full-on “WhY’d YoU dRoP oUt Of YaLe?” energy. Omg. g. It was giving dramatic heartbreak, emotional honesty, and a sprinkle of "we're clearly not over each other," all in one scene.
This Episode
Okay, this week’s episode honestly rage-baited me because like… what even was that? All we got was Jere being a baby, Adam becoming hateable again, Belly chasing her bag, and Taylor and Steven being... there.
Like, okay — I’m not heartless, I was low-key starting to feel bad for Jere. But then that last scene where he goes to tell Conrad “she didn’t choose me, but she didn’t pick you either” made me hate him all over again. That was proof right there that the whole thing was just a competition to him. Not love. Not maturity. Just vibes and jealousy.
And Adam?? I was actually liking him this season — maybe just because he was hating on Jere too, lol — but this episode made me go right back to full-on despising him. That first scene with Laurel? I was out. Just the way he talked to her… nope. I will say, though, Connie explaining everything to him while Adam sat there looking so confused was unintentionally hilarious. Like, even he couldn’t keep up with the chaos anymore.
Now let’s talk about Belly. WHAT was she doing?! Chasing her bag all episode was not it. It was honestly just annoying and felt like such a waste of screen time. Like yeah, secure the bag , but not during peak emotional chaos. And let’s be real — that entire subplot felt like a straight-up AirTag ad(guess that's how the show is paying for that music ).Also when she said “priceless ring,” I almost laughed out loud. Girl, no. Stop.
And don’t get me wrong — I love Taylor and Steven — but this week?? Ugh. I was getting invested in the whole Denise storyline and then we just get shoved into more Taylor/Steven fluff. Like, Steven literally just found out Jere cheated on Belly, and then two seconds later he’s back to making out with Taylor like it never happened. That was basically their whole episode. I was like… seriously?
I'm honestly scared for the rest of the episodes and I'm also questioning why the hell I'm watching this show now days because it's just getting a tad bit annoying now but I guess we'll have to see if it picks up again. Thank you so much for reading my bloggg
until next timee
