The Zodiac Killer

The Zodiac Killer

hey an welcome back to 'diaryofanoverthinker' today I will be discussing my theory on the zodiac killer. Now before we get into anything to deep these are just opinions and my own personal thoughts, therefor I am not accusing anyone and I am in no way saying my theory is correct. My thoughts are also more based on the movie however I have been really interested in the case and do hope to delve into it a little further in the future. So sit back ,relax and enjoy!

A bit about the Zodiac Killer

Ok before I fully delve into my suspicions lets familiarise our selves with the case.

The Zodiac Killer is a notorious unidentified serial killer who operated in Northern California during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Key Points:

  1. Victims: The Zodiac Killer is confirmed to have murdered at least five people between 1968 and 1969. The known victims include high school students Betty Lou Jensen and Darlene Ferrin, as well as a young couple, Michael Mageau and Darlene Ferrin. The killer also claimed to have murdered a cab driver, Paul Stine, in San Francisco in 1969.
  2. His style/signature: The killer’s methods varied but often involved attacking couples parked in secluded areas. In some cases, he approached victims with a firearm and in others, used a knife.
  3. Communications: The Zodiac Killer used to send cryptic letters and ciphers to local newspapers. Some of these letters included gruesome details about his crimes and threatened future violence. The killer's communications often included ciphers, which he challenged readers to solve. While some ciphers were cracked, others remain unsolved.
  4. Identity: Despite extensive investigations, the Zodiac Killer’s identity remains unknown. Numerous suspects have been proposed over the years, but none have been definitively linked to the crimes. The case has seen various leads and theories, but none have conclusively identified the killer.
  5. Investigations: The investigation into the Zodiac Killer was one of the largest and most publicized in American history. Despite substantial media coverage and numerous leads, the case remains open and unsolved.
  6. Cultural Impact: The Zodiac Killer has had a lasting impact on popular culture, inspiring numerous books, films, and documentaries. His mysterious persona and the chilling nature of his crimes have made him a subject of fascination and speculation.

So this is all facts that are from the real case all of which were included in the movie. Now that we're aquatinted with the case lets get into my theory.

My suspect

Now while watching the movie I suspected the cartoonist because he sort of just involved himself in the case, was the only one who could figure out the ciphers and cryptic letters not to mention writing a whole book about it later in life. Seems a bit odd right? And based on all murder mysteries I've read killers tend to involve themselves in the case to seem less suspicious. So I thought all this while watching the movie, then found out it was a real case and that they never found the killer which only piqued my interest.

Now lets talk about his books, I get that he is a true crime writer but his first ever book was about the zodiac killer and it's not his only one. Now sure it's a well known case and it probably has a close connection to him but it is a bot odd how obsessed he is with the case. Now I haven't read them but I really want to and when I do I will be writing about it. Anyways not the point right now.

While I don't have much evidence to work on and I'm not a professional, not that they solved it either but this isn't a teen murder mystery book either. I think he did it and it's just based on a few facts I've learned, I mean for all I know he actually is innocent but we'll never truly know since it's been years and the real killer could be dead.

The actual main suspect

Arthur Leigh Allen,he was one of the main suspects and I can't lie he was a good one.He wore a Zodiac watch, which had the same symbol that was found on all the Zodiac Killer's anonymous letters. Allen's personality also fit that of a serial killer. He was on the quiet side, socially awkward, and was a known pedophile. Not that the pedophile bit really linked with this case but still it add suspicion.

I mean it actually could be him I can't even lie because he is one suspicions man. I mean having a zodiac watch with that exact symbol can't be a coincidence, can it?

Anywho that's all I have for today but I'll definitely make a part 2 after I do more research and read Graysmith's books on it, until the feel free to share any of your own theories with me because I would love to get lost in thoughts of this case. As always feel free to contact me at adiaryofanoverthinker@gmail.com
