Weekly Exam Review

Weekly Exam Review

Hey and welcome back to 'diaryofanoverthinker' today I'll be telling you about my week yet again because well we have to stick to the exam theme. So sit back, relax and enjoy reading my little yap session!

Every Exam of the week:

Monday: Honestly Monday was a pretty solid day overall. I had Aqaaid and EMS P2. I wasn't stressed for Aqaaid at all because our teacher is amazing, honestly, he makes studying for his papers so easy that it doesn't feel like you're learning things for the first time and you actually know what you're studying. EMS, though, was more of a 50/50 situation. I’m generally good at the subject, but P2 focuses on business studies, which is my weaker side. It's a lot more theory-based, and there’s a lot of memorization involved, which I tend to struggle with.

That said, both papers went better than I expected. I even got my Aqaaid mark back, and I managed to pull off a 96%, which isn't a big suprise but it was still a huge win. EMS also went well ,I didn’t get my mark yet, but I’m feeling confident that it’ll be fine. The only annoying part was the whole circular flow thing. We all studied it really hard because it was supposed to come out, but it wasn't in the paper at all, and the entire grade was super frustrated with the teacher. Despite that, Monday ended up being a pretty good day overall.

Tuesday: I was so stressed about Tuesdays papers, especially with Creative Arts and Fiqh. I mean they sound like easy papers, but trust me, they’re not. You might wonder, Creative Arts how is that stressful? Well, when you’ve got a ton of worksheets to memorize but find the imformation boring, know nothing about art, and have barely done anything in class all year, it’s definitely challenging. Then there’s Fiqh, which we don’t really learn much in class, and it’s one of those subjects where you need to understand the concepts, but there’s also a lot to memorize which, as I’ve mentioned, is not my strong suit.

Surprisingly, the Creative Arts paper went better than expected. Even the drawing at the end wasn’t too bad, which was a relief because I’m awful at drawing without something to trace. Honestly, I was just hoping not to totally mess up, but somehow, I ended up with a 92%, and I’m really proud of that. Fiqh, on the other hand, was more of a 50/50. The paper was okay, and I understood most of it, but there were definitely some questions where I thought, Did we even cover this? I was pretty confused on a few things, but overall, it wasn’t too bad, and I’m hopeful I’ll get a decent mark. So, not a terrible day, but still a bit of a rollercoaster.

Wednesday: we had an off day here so I'm just gonna leave that blank because all I did was chill and study

Thursday: Thursday was a bit of a amazing day in some ways and horrible in others. On one hand, we had Afrikaans P1, and I think we can all agree that no one really likes Afrikaans. On the other hand, we had Hadeeth, and that’s usually a breeze with our chilled teacher and relatively easy papers, so I was feeling okay about it.

Afrikaans was... well, pretty much what I expected. It was just the Begrips and Visuale Teks sections, but of course, I was stressed because, well, it's Afrikaans. The Visuale Teks wasn’t too bad, but the Begrips section absolutely killed me. When I found out that some of the smartest people in our grade struggled with it too, I knew I was cooked. Honestly, I’ve always known Afrikaans was going to be a struggle, but hearing that made me wonder just how badly I messed up. On top of that, I learned that the paper was actually harder originally, and the HOD had to tell the teacher to make it easier, which just made me imagine how much worse it could’ve been.

On the flip side, Hadeeth was probably one of the best papers I’ve ever written. It was easy, relaxed, and honestly, it even felt kind of fun (I know, sounds insane, but it did). That paper really calmed me down because even though I probably failed Afrikaans, at least I had one paper that went well that day. So, in the end, Thursday was a bit of a rollercoaster, but I’m glad I had the Hadeeth paper to balance things out.

Friday: Friday was just the continuation of my Afrikaans nightmare, and it really confirmed that I might actually fail. So, my original plan was pretty simple: I studied my taal rules, I knew how to do an Opsomming, and I thought I’d be okay. I figured I'd get my marks in this paper and everything will be ok. Well, I was wrong.

The Opsomming was a complete disaster. Everything I’d learned about it in previous years didn’t apply to this paper. Without my usual go-to phrases like Moet Jy’s and Jy Moet's, which always seemed to work in the past,I was completely lost and so was everyone else because that's the only way we knew how to do it. Somehow, I managed to scrape together an Opsomming, but I’m pretty sure I’m not getting many marks for that.

As for the Taal section, it mostly went fine, but there were a few questions where I was confused. So honestly, I have no idea what’s going to happen with my Afrikaans marks. I’m hoping my writing work will help me out since that did go well, but I’m still nervous.

So, Friday was a rough end to the week, but it’s fine. I’ve only got one more week to go, and then I won’t have to think about Afrikaans for two whole months. That’s something to look forward to, at least.

So that was my second week of exams, lots of mixed emotions but you know it's fine I did well in a lot of subjects and I think I'm ok with that. Just one more week of this insanity and I'll be fine, thank god. I hope everyone else had a somewhat good week and that your exams went wells wish you luck for next week!

Until next time
